Wayne on his love for making music:
I love the studio. It feels like going into a classroom, you know you didn’t study everything, the test gets in front of you, and you’re like Damn, I know all the answers. That’s how I feel when I get in the studio, like Damn, I know all the answers.

On his addiction to syrup and suffering from withdrawal:
You will literally feel it going in, like Pepto-Bismol shows in the commercials. It pissed me off Because I couldn’t get off it. I can take pain good but that wasn’t pain I could take.

His response when questioned about his lifestyle:
Don’t judge me until you meet me. And you know when you gonna meet me? Never. So don’t judge me. Don’t worry about my health because what you doing? And when you tell me what you doing, I bet it ain’t half as great as what I’m doing. I smoke, drink, and do what, who, and how I want and I’m going to keep doing. And I’ma die the way I want. And that’s that.

On his legacy:
I wanna be a Bob Marley. I wanna be a Tupac. ­Their lives mean so much. I wanna mean so much after I’m gone. Y’all still gotta do shows, tributes, dedicate 20 whole minutes to me on every show. I want that.

His response when asked if he’s scared of death:
F— no. I¹m more afraid of life than death. I don’t know where you going when you die, so I ain’t too scared of that. I already know what’s poppin’ around here. It’s scary out here.

Lil Wayne on wanting respect as an artist:
I still feel like I’m not being respected. I still feel like I don’t have the crown. I still feel like there’s something I have to do that hasn’t been done.

Lil Wayne has two primary passions: making music and smoking weed. Tonight, those have come into conflict. Wayne is sitting on his tour bus in New Orleans, having come back to his hometown for two concerts. He’d like to head into a studio to do some mixing for Tha Carter III, 2008’s most anticipated rap album. But there’s a problem. Wayne isn’t allowed to smoke in the studio. So he stays on the bus, lighting blunt after blunt and watching Animal Planet on the TV. He’ll sleep there tonight for the same reason: Wayne can’t smoke in his hotel room either.

As the hype continues to build towards Lil Wayne’s upcoming The Carter III, the accolades continue to come for Weezy as well.Rolling Stone recently named Wayne “Best MC” in their Best of Rock 2008 issue. While it may be no surprise to many, it is what a Wayne guest appearance goes for these days that may shock people.
According to the feature, a verse from Weezy goes for $100k on average. The lowest Wayne will go to serve a hot sixteen? $75k.

“But nothing less!” Wayne says to the mag. “I wouldn’t do a song for my sister for less than $75,000.”

In the meanwhile, Wayne’s album is now staring at a June release date.

The reason for the delay seems to be that Wayne is still recording new material. He also has been learning to play guitar (he recently played on Enrique Inglesias’ “Push”) and taking online classes at the University of Phoenix for a psychology degree.

When speaking of the album, Wayne told Billboard, “It’s one of those albums people are really waiting on, so I made it so that whatever is on it will stick with you forever. I’m taking my time with it. And I’m giving artists I respect and people I want to do songs with — not songs the label fixed — an opportunity to collaborate.”

Lil Wayne’s The Carter III is due out June 10th on Universal/Cash Money.
